State honors for Satya Sai Baba?

I don’t understand the reason for State honors for Satya Sai Baba. He is neither a Military man, not a government office bearer that he gets this privilege. More over, I think no one in politics should never get that. But that’s a different story. With all due respect to his holiness, I dont think there was any god living in this time of the world. But people used refer him to god. I never heard of a God who lived in a Rs.  50,000 Crore empire, travelling in Rolls Royce. I dont even think Sai Baba (Shirdi Sai Baba), whom Satya Sai Baba claims to be as his reincarnation, would have spent a life as stylish.

No offence to so many people following him, and I respect their rights of freedom of thinking. But I need answers to my questions.

I read on some news sites, that State honors for Satya Sai Baba as it is followed for every other Hindu spiritual leaders! Is that correct? If Hindu Spiritual leaders on their death get State honors, then there a so many spiritual leaders, why didnt they get? Does being famous make him eligible to get state honors? Really looking for answers, if some one has please do let me know.

I wish to write more about this topic of Satya Sai Baba. I hope I find enough time.

    Hey man, I was also thinking of a post on this. At the end of the day, I suppose, if people find happiness with their beliefs it’s alright. My personal view is that so called godmen are fake :-). But it doesn’t change the fact that quite a few godmen actually may believe that they are indeed reincarnations of god. And so will peoplw :-(.

    At the end of the day the States are also run by ‘people’. A real conundrum.

    But I am more frightened about the recent IT act (that went unnoticed and not made big by media) that seems quite ambiguous. Meaning, the Indian Gov. has put laws in place which empowers them to ban any website at any time they want without giving public explanations on why. Quite scary. No freedom of speech on the internet.

      True, even I missed it but i knew it was coming.. Its just to be fair with themselves that they dont wish people to read provoking stuff… Imagine the Government blocking Advani’s website coz he is flaring up being the opposition.. they wont have the gutts to do it, but then why the common man?

    Hemal i dont have the ans to ur ques, but yes in India these things happen coz of the kinda people we have…when we believe in something/someone we feel its divine and our immense involvment in it makes us worship it…probably since his sayings came true for people and his predictions perfected their lives he became god to them…but i agree these certainly doesnot make anyone eligible for state honors..

I take time to take very good care of my parents, and I pray to them as my gods than someone whom i remotely dont even know. And for the record, I take their blessings by touching both of their feet every time I leave from my home.

      Hi Satya, welcome to my blog and thanks for posting the comment.

      I didnt say I hate Satya Sai baba and neither I am interested in enforcing my views on him to others.. My question on this post is very clear. Why state honors for him, when there are others too who have not received. I never heard of this phenomenon before. State honors are given to those who were either in Military or have served high level Government positions in the ministry. Satya Sai baba was neither, and hence it aroused curosity.
